North West London is home to the world’s oldest scientific zoo. Opened in 1827 by the Zoological Society of London, London zoo is one of the most fascinating places to spend a day out with your family. There are over 650 species currently habituating 36 acre of land. The listed buildings of London Zoo include a 1836 Giraffe House which is still in use and a Modernist Penguin Pool from 1934.

Another notable attraction in the North West London area is the London site of Royal Air Force Museum. It was opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 15th of November, 1972, housing 36 aircraft at the time of opening.

One of the eight Royal Parks is found in North West London. The Regent’s Park is part of the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. Although the London Zoo and the Regent’s University are the Park’s landmarks, this 410 acres area has many other places of interest. One can take a walk through the beautiful Queen Mary’s Gardens, catch a show at the Open Air Theatre, or admire the Winfield House, the mansion that houses the US Ambassador. The Regent’s Park has sports facilities for tennis, football, rugby, cricket, and cycling. Playgrounds for the little ones are also found in the Park.
