Upton is a district of Bexleyheath within the London Borough of Bexley as well as in the historic Kent county. The area was originally a village of Bexley Heath in the town of Bexley but was incorporated into the new town after it has seen development from the late 19th century and the first part of the 20th century.
Red House, a notable Arts and Crafts building created by designer William Morris and architect Philip Webb in 1860 can be found in Upton. At present, this stylish brick and tile house is conserved by the National Trust. The area also had a hospital (from 1887 to 1978) on Upton Road, and as of 2019, the building is still there.
Upton is covered under the postcode district DA6. Bexleyheath station, on the Bexleyheath line, is the nearest railway station in the area. The station has rail services going to London Victoria via London Charing Cross, Dartford, Peckham Rye, London Cannon Street, Gravesend and Barnehurst.
