Did you know that...
Waltham Cross is a former residential hamlet and currently a district in the southern part of the London Borough of Broxbourne. It is located 20 km (12 miles north northeast of Charing Cross. 3 of the 12 Eleanor crosses (towering decorative stone memorials) are in the borough (one in Waltham Cross, one at Hardingstone and one at Geddington).
There are two London Overground railway stations that serve the area – Waltham Cross station and Theobalds Grove station. The former runs to Stratford and London Liverpool Street via Tottenham Hale, while the latter also runs to London Liverpool Street via Seven Sisters. The town center has a bus station where several routes stop and connect with services beyond London.
The town center is home to many chain stores, a general market, banks, independent shops and a covered shopping center. The most notable resident of Waltham Cross is Anthony Trollope, a Victorian novelist who lived at Waltham House from 1859 to 1871.
