Did you know that...
The Wrythe (also known as Wrythe Green) is a small district within the London Borough of Sutton. The area got its name from a huge stream that rises in the parent town (previously governed by its parish) of Carshalton. A Sutton Council ward, The Wrythe has a population of 10,163 as of the 2011 Census.
Approximately 1.6 km (1 mile) from the heart of Carshalton, The Wrythe has 2 M&S food shops, a very huge branch of Nisa and various independent stores and restaurants. There are 4 schools in the area, namely Carshalton College, Camden Junior School, Victor Seymour Infants School and Muschamp and Rushy Meadow Primary School.
Surrounded by shops and passed through by short roads, The Wrythe Green is situated on the north side (about 400 meters) of Carshalton railway station, while to the east (approximately 600 meters) is Wilderness Island. Bus route 127 traverses the college, whereas 151 the town’s center and major road and 157 traverses the M&S store.
