Stapleford Tawney is a civil parish and town in the borough of Epping Forest in Essex. It is around 23 km (14 miles) southwest from Chelmsford’s county town and 6 km (4 miles) west southwest from Chipping Ongar. Stapleford Tawney is under the postcode district RM4.
Houses and individual farms are spread throughout Stapleford Tawney, and land usage is predominantly agricultural. The M25 motorway passes through the southern end, while the hamlets of Tawney Common and Colliers Hatch can be found at the northern side of the town.
Stapleford Tawney is long and narrow, stretching around 5 km (3 miles) from north to south; however, it is largely just around 1.6 km (1 mile) wide for most of its stretch. Its south border is formed by the River Roding, while the western corner is formed by a stream that flows through the town.
