Did you know that...
South Mimms (sometimes spelled as South Mymms) is a locality and civil parish within the East of England’s Hertsmere district of Hertfordshire. It is a small town situated near the intersection of the A1(M) motorway with the M25 motorway and is possibly more recognized due to the name of the service station at the intersection.
Potters Bar was initially a small town in the parish of South Mimms, then it became the site of the closest railway station and ultimately grew bigger. Both South Mimms and Potters Bar were part of the historic county of Middlesex until the formation of Greater London.
St. Giles’ Church is the most notable structure in South Mimms. This Grade I listed parish church, built as dedication to Saint Giles, is located on the western corner of the town. It features a west tower, a chancel with chapel and north vestry, and a nave with south porch and north aisle.
